The report. Watch a line, then press Report and VERSE says what it found in plain words — and what to check first. "Source timing is bad. Shortest break 61us, needs 88. Try a different console output." The log on the card is still there as evidence; the report is the answer.
Files. Settings now lists everything on the card with sizes and free space, and deletes with a confirmation. The fault logs could not be seen from the unit at all before.
Restart and firmware update from Settings. Neither needs the board's own button, so updating firmware no longer means opening the case.
A warning before re-addressing a rig. Patch now says how many fixtures it is about to change, and asks.
RDM copes with a busy line. If something else is transmitting — commonly a fixture in master mode, which starts as soon as a controller pauses DMX — VERSE says so and searches around it instead of stalling.
Better
Themes are eight distinct colors. Three pairs used to share a color and were effectively the same theme twice.
The analyzer responds immediately. It was redrawing every bar on every DMX frame, forty times a second, and touches queued up behind it.
The Signal screen refreshes five times a second rather than forty, which is both quicker and legible — nobody can read a number changing that fast.
Screen timeout runs to an hour, defaulting to 30 minutes. It used to stop at five, which meant the screen blanking part-way through a measurement.
Fixed
- Peak hold drew nothing at all.
- A unit could lock up after being switched off while plugged in, and had to be unplugged to recover.
- Waking a unit that was charging switched it off again.
- A unit left charging while off cycled its charging screen instead of resting.
- The display could come back with missing rows or wrong colors after waking.
- A watch that saw no signal at all reported the line as healthy.
- Recordings looked as though they had not saved — the file list was drawing in a color that made it invisible.
- The mark-after-break measurement read fractionally low, which could report a compliant source as faulty.
- Discovery could leave a fixture listed with nothing but its address.
- A constant fault filled the log with thousands of identical entries.
The first release with RDM: discovery, addressing, identify, personalities and sensors. Added physical-layer timing measurement, the unattended fault logger, and a DIP switch calculator, and re-laid the menu to hold them.
